Louisville Center for the Arts Use Policy <br />The Louisville Center for the Arts (LCA) at 801 Grant Avenue is designated as a community facility <br />dedicated to the advancement and preservation of art, music, theater, dance, zoology, botany, natural <br />history, and cultural history in the City of Louisville and shall be used for such art and cultural <br />programs /events beneficial to the citizens of Louisville and its visitors. <br />The scheduling and coordination of building uses shall be overseen by a governing board comprising <br />four citizens representing the Louisville Cultural Council, the Louisville Art Association, Coal Creek <br />Theater of Louisville, and CenterStage Theatre Company (referred to as the Resident Arts <br />Organizations). <br />To accommodate the interests of longer term planning, the governing board and designated city staff <br />member will meet in August of each year to identify advance reservation dates for the next calendar <br />year for: <br />• Resident arts group's uses. <br />• Cultural Council- sponsored events. <br />• Annual maintenance and /or major repairs. <br />The governing board will adopt a final calendar of multi -day events and regular Cultural Council events <br />no later than October lSt of each year. <br />To accommodate the interests of flexibility and coordinate with their cycle of turnover the Cultural <br />Council may reserve dates for the upcoming year without identifying in advance the specific <br />programming planned. The number of dates reserved will generally be based on the prior year's fulfilled <br />dates. <br />To schedule the best use of the Arts Center for the arts, the City, and the public at large, the governing <br />board and city staff representative shall meet twice a year to review and solidify the calendar for the <br />upcoming six months and to identify any actions or changes suggested by the experience of the past six <br />months. These meetings will take place in: <br />November: for December through June. <br />April: for July through December. <br />The guiding principles for the governing body and city staff will be: <br />• To place the highest priority on maximizing the amount and variety of cultural events offered to <br />the public. <br />• To ensure that resident arts organizations have generally equal access to use of the facility. <br />• To minimize the effects of overlapping uses on each of the user groups. <br />• To ensure access for required maintenance. <br />• To provide the mechanism for accommodating other public and private usage. <br />The governing board will prepare and post a storage plan so that all building users will understand <br />where items are to be stored at the end of each use. <br />The City of Louisville will provide routine cleaning and maintenance for the building. <br />
