Louisville City Council Meeting <br />September 3, 2002 <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE <br /> AGENDA <br /> <br />Nancy Love, 841 Front Street, Louisville, CO, President of the Downtown Business <br />Association, stated that she wished to address three issues with Council. Her first issue <br />was the string of lights attached to the light poles in the downtown area. She explained <br />that they are either burned out or being vandalized. She spoke with the Police Department <br />and asked that patrol on Main Street be increased. She requested that the City Manager <br />contact the Police Department relative to patrolling the down town area. Her second issue <br />was in regard to the success of the Downtown Business Association's Street Fare. She <br />requested that next year, the DBA Street Fare be included in all advertisement and event <br />calendars for the fall festival. She noted that the DBA would soon begin to plan for the <br />2003 Street Fare and would like to expand the event to the Plaza on Front Street. She also <br />asked if City crews could assist in the setting up and taking down of the Street Fare. Her <br />third issue was to thank Council for the downtown business directional signs. <br /> <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON <br /> THE AGENDA <br /> <br />Keany commented that he also spoke with Chief Bruce Goodman about the extra patrol <br />along Main Street. He stated that he would like to address Council helping the Downtown <br />Business Association at a future work session. <br /> <br />Mayer congratulated the Downtown Business Association for the success of the Street <br />Fare: He concurred with Council member Keany that the City should consider <br />participating in the event. <br /> <br />Brown also congratulated the DBA for the success of the Street Fare. He commended <br />Elle Cabbage and all the volunteers for the success of the Fall Festival events. <br /> <br />Brown reported that the DRCOG Board has approved and included funding of the draft <br />of the environmental impact statement for the US 36 corridor in the transportation <br />improvement plan. He noted that Mayor Davidson and Assistant to the City Manager, <br />Heather Balser can be credited for the progress of the project. <br /> <br />Brown reported that the Denver Buff Club is working on an initiative called "1000 Flags <br />Over Colorado." The initiative is to place flags up and down the US 36 corridor on CU <br />game days to show team spirit. <br /> <br />Sisk reminded Council and Louisville residents that RTD is sponsoring a DASH <br />Roundtable discussion at the Bridge School, located at the Sacred Heart Church, on <br />South Boulder Road. The meeting is Wednesday, September 4, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
