Louisville City Council Meeting
October 15, 2002
Page 2

PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

Bridget Bacon, 195 S. Washington Avenue, Louisville, CO, addressed information
appearing in the voter's guide, concerning Memory Square Pool and Ballot Issues 2A and
2B. She referred to the "League of Women Voter's Ballot Issues 2002" published in the
Daily Camera, containing the following argument: "passage of 2A would hasten the
closing the of Memory Square Pool." She referred to the Boulder County Election
Booklet containing the following statement: "City Council has said that if this ballot issue
passes, the Memory Square Pool will most likely be closed, and it is unfair to old town
residents to take away the only City recreational facility in the old section of Louisville."
It was her belief that false statements were submitted to the League of Women's Voters
and to the County based on rumors. She stated that false rumors could have an unfair
affect on the political process and asked Council to reinforce publicly that no decision has
been made relative to the Memory Square Swimming Pool.

Christy Shine, 192 S. Polk St., Louisville, CO, addressed a Ward III meeting where she
voiced her concern on the amount of the traffic along Polk Street. She explained that
several other residential areas have similar traffic concerns. She stated that Council
member Brown suggested a Citizens' Traffic Advisory Committee to assist Council on
traffic issues. She asked Council to discuss forming such a committee at a work session.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON
THE AGENDA

Davidson stated that City Council has made no decision relative to closing Memory
Square Swimming Pool. He noted that Council has directed Staff to do a detailed study
on what is required to update at Memory Square Pool.

Brown stated that he looks forward to the report from the Aquatic Architect, which will
outline what it required to rejuvenate Memory Square Swimming Pool.

Brown reported on the Ward III meeting, and stated that 40 residents were in attendance.
He noted the residents were updated on the overpass and the South Sub Area Planning
process. He stated that the discussions centered on traffic congestion in a number of
neighborhoods. He suggested a traffic advisory board that could take testimony from
citizens and forward information to the Council and Public Works Department.

Sisk addressed the issue of statements relative to the closure of Memory Square Pool. He
stated that after some research, he found some indication of discussion in the July 16,
2002 City Council Minutes, wherein Gail Wetrogran voiced her opposition to the bond
issue. Sisk quoted the minutes as follows: "Wetrogan inquired about an article in the
newspaper referencing the creation of a special tax district to keep Memory Square
swimming pool open. She asked if her taxes would be tripled."

2
