Louisville City Council Meeting
October 15, 2002
Page 9

Keany explained that the City of Greeley has had a very active Youth Board for
approximately 20 years, and sponsored a workshop, which Balzarini attended. He stated,
like Greeley, Louisville's Youth Advisory Board would have a Councilperson as a
liaison, a staff representative, and a business community representative. He noted that
the Greeley Board has a police department representative, however, when asked to
participate, Chief Goodman declined involvement at this time. Keany asked for Council
direction on police participation in the Youth Advisory Board.

Davidson suggested that the City Manager discuss this matter with Chief Goodman.

Levihn stated that the Police Department already has a connection with the youth in the
community, and perhaps they feel involvement in the Board may be a hindrance.

Mayer inquired if the timing of the community investment fee ordinance would pass prior
to January 1, 2003. City Manager Simmons confirmed the passage of the ordinance
would be prior to January 1, 2003.

Brown asked Council member Keany if the Youth Advisory Board members would come
from all levels of the elementary school, middle school and high school.

Keany explained that although Greeley's is set up by application, letters will be sent to
Louisville schools, asking each principal to select a representative, one per grade level,
from fifth-through twelfth grade. He stated there would be one representative from each
elementary school, three representatives from the middle school, and four representatives
from the high school.

Sisk reported that the manager of Albertson's, Jon Rumley has been transferred to
Lowry's new Albertson's. He stated that Jon was very involved in the community and
thanked Jon and Albertson's for their commitment.

ADJOURNMENT

~l~]~],Brown moved that Council adjourn (8:02 p.m.), seconded by Levihn. All in

~,~': ~'::, ' ~' [~ Tom Davidson, Mayor

~a~y V~a, City Clerk
