Exterior building materials, as shown on the building elevation
sheet, are to be consistent with the brick and tile construction of
the church. The modular building will remain on site, moved onto
a permanent foundation and retro-f i tted with a gable roof for
design continuity.

The site plan reflects that approximately 4,000 s. f. of the
existing paved area will be removed and landscaped. The percent of
the site landscaped will increase from 25% to 32%. The sodded areas
will be irrigated with an automatic sprinkler system. Both current
and anticipated enrollments at build-out are as follows:

CURRENT

PROPOSED

CHURCH
SCHOOL
DAY CARE

250 (BLDG. CAPACITY)
150 (9 TEACHERS)
113 (3 SESSIONS)

500
200
200 (3 SESSIONS)

STAFF COMMENTS:

Parking

Staff review of the proposed church/school expansion (phase II)
notes an overall deficiency of off-street parking spaces. The
number of off-street parking spaces, as required by the Louisville
Municipal Code for a church, is 1 space per 3 seats. There are
currently 70 off-street spaces which, based upon the requirement,
can serve up to 210 people. A minimum of two (2) handicapped
parking spaces shall be provided.

The construction of the proposed community center will eliminate 16
spaces. At build-out, the complex will have approximately 54 spaces
serving 162 out of a potential capacity (according to the church)
of 500 parishioners. In an effort to address impacts on the
neighborhood from on-street parking, the church has expanded the
number of Masses it offers. One Mass is scheduled for Saturday a.m.
and four are scheduled for Sunday, three of which are in the a.m.

The lack of nearby off-street parking and the historic use of on-
street parking is noted. Also noted, impacts are limited by the
number of walk-ins, the frequency of occurrence, and the expansion
of the number of Masses which are offered.

Vision Clearance

The modular building is located within a vision clearance area.
Staff has advised the applicant that, at the time the unit is
located on a permanent foundation, it will have to be located

2
