City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> January 7, 2014 <br /> Page 3 of 22 <br /> COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE <br /> AGENDA <br /> Mayor Muckle wished everyone a happy New Year. <br /> CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> City Manager Fleming reported the Library has a science exhibit on e anatomy. The <br /> Library has done a number of science exhibits and has become a beta testing zone for <br /> many exhibits. He asked the public to visit the exhibit and register their comments. <br /> REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> APPOINTMENT OF CITY ATTORNEY, WATER ATTORNEY, MUNICIPAL JUDGE, <br /> DEPUTY MUNICIPAL JUDGE AND CITY PROSECUTOR <br /> Mayor Muckle explained the City Council appoints the City Attorney, Water Attorney, <br /> City Prosecutor, Municipal Judge and Deputy Municipal Judge. He felt the City has <br /> been well served by all the appointed officials. For 2014, the City Council appointed the <br /> following officials: City Attorney— Sam Light, Light Kelly, P.C.; Water Attorney—Alan <br /> Hill, Yates Law Firm; Municipal Judge — Bruce Joss; Deputy Municipal Judge—Jeff <br /> Cahn and Prosecuting Attorney— Colette Cribari. <br /> Council member Lipton was interested in the selection process. Mayor Muckle <br /> explained the process is reviewable prior to the appointments through the Legal <br /> Committee. <br /> MOTION: Mayor Muckle moved to approve the appointments of the City Officials, <br /> seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Dalton. All were in favor. <br /> City Clerk Varra swore in Bruce Joss as Municipal Judge. Judge Joss then swore in <br /> City Attorney Light, Deputy Municipal Judge Cahn, and Water Attorney Alan Hill. City <br /> Prosecutor Cribari was unavailable and will be sworn in by the Judge next week. <br /> Bruce Joss thanked the City Council for his appointment as Municipal Judge. Jeff Cahn <br /> expressed his thanks for his appointment as Deputy Municipal Judge. Sam Light also <br /> expressed his thanks to the City Council for his appointment as City Attorney and the <br /> opportunity to serve the City Council and the citizens of Louisville. Alan Hill thanked the <br /> Council for his appointment as Water Attorney. <br /> COMCAST FRANCHISE NEGOTIATION UPDATE <br /> Mayor Pro Tem Dalton presented an update on the status of the City's cable franchise <br /> negotiations with Comcast.
