City Council
Meeting Minutes
February 4, 2014
Julie Stone, 749 Orchard Court, Louisville, CO a member of the Senior Advisory Board;
announced the 14th Annual Silent Auction and Heat Relief Event will be held on
February 20, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., at the Louisville Recreation Center. The
event is sponsored by the Seniors of the Louisville Advisory Board and Carrabba's
Italian Grill in Louisville and all proceeds from the dinner and silent auction will be used
for help defray the energy costs for senior residents.
Jean Morgan, 1131 Spruce Street, Louisville, CO thanked staff for preserving the City's
historic safe and placing it in the City Hall lobby. She addressed the importance of
having a park or open space at the Baptist Church property and read a letter from the
Boulder County Audubon Society, urging the preservation of this riparian woodland.
Alexandra Bradley, 1385 Caledonia Circle, Louisville, CO referenced the Baptist Church
property and read an on-line petition, which received 300 responses. She cited five
reasons for preserving the property for open space. She felt the property offers an
extension of practice fields, open space, parks or it may just remain vacant.
Cindy Bedell, 662 W. Willow Street, Louisville, CO voiced her support of the property for
a potential open space purchase. She stated Louisville residents have always
supported open space purchases.
Paula Palmer, 1603 Cottonwood Drive, Louisville, CO read comments from the on-line
petition from persons who supported purchasing the Baptist Church property. She
asked for a show of hands of those in attendance who supported the open space
purchase. Four individuals raised their hands.
CONSENT AGENDA
City Manager Fleming commented on Consent Agenda Item E —Approval of the 2014
Chemical Purchase for Water Treatment Plant Facilities from Siemens. He explained
Siemens was not the only bidder. There were bidders on different chemicals, but staff
recommended awarding the bid to Siemens for the chemical purchases. Public Works
Director Kowar explained staff recommended Siemens because they have personnel in
the area and provide a high level of service, including maintenance checks of the water
treatment system. Staff believed Siemens offers a better value from the customer
service aspect. They also require a smaller minimum order, which works well with the
plant's configuration and the size of the tanks.
Mayor Muckle moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Mayor Pro Tern
Dalton. All were in favor. Absent: Council member Lipton.
A. Approval of the Bills
B. Approval of Minutes —January 7, 2014, January 14, 2014, January 21, 2014
C.
