Louisville Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
January 16, 2014
o March 11 - Initial date provided for LCC to present proposed plans and requested
budgets to the City Council, but Susan asked if the date could be pushed out due to
the March SCFD grant deadline. A new date will be provided later.
o March 25 - SCFD Grant Application due online
o Proposed Concerts in the Park, by Mark:
• June 12 - Face
• June 19 - Skean Dubh
• June 26 - The Carbones
• July 10 - The Sweet Spot Trio
• July 17 - Johnny O
• July 24 - (rain date)
o Mark asked for input on activities to do for intermission at the concerts.
XII. Discussions / Decisions
o Jane Evans, Louisville Arts Association (LAA), presented the online Volunteer
Spot -> volunteerspot.com. Most LCC members liked the free website to ask the
public to volunteer for specific jobs at specific events. Once events are set up in the
system, then activities can be defined by description, date, length of time and
number of volunteers requested. Then when volunteers sign up for jobs, the system
automatically updates the volunteer list, sends a reminder email or robotic telephone
call, and can be used for thank you notes as well.
o Jane Evans, LAA, presented their new website -> louisvilleart.org, new logo and
how their website has integrated the volunteerspot.com link for easy sign up by the
public. Their webmaster is Hong and she used Joomla to allow LAA members to
modifiy sections of the website without having to contact Hong. This makes quick
updates for upcoming events and other activities easy to manage on the website.
One possible problem is that the LCC website is louisvillearts.org.
o The City website plans an update as well.
o Darin volunteered to take the lead on the LCC website and newsletter modifications
and process updates. LCC members will need to work together to determine how
the website will work and how upcoming events will be added to the website.
o Jill Clateman, Old Town Cinema, discussed the challenges of putting on a movie
event inside and outside. Chris volunteered to work with Jill to see how the LCC can
assist.
