City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> February 18, 2014 <br /> Page 3 of 23 <br /> City Manager Fleming reported on Monday, February 17th, telephone interviews were <br /> conducted for candidates for Police Chief. Human Resources Director Hix, Deputy City <br /> Manager Balser and he interviewed ten candidates. Chief Goodman sat in and <br /> provided comments. Six candidates have been selected and background checks will be <br /> conducted prior to in-person interviews in late March. He reported there are an <br /> excellent group of candidates. <br /> REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> RESOLUTION No. 12, SERIES 2014— A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE <br /> RENAMING OF THE NORTH WATER TREATMENT PLANT THE SID COPELAND <br /> WATER TREATMENT PLAN IN HONOR OF SID COPELAND <br /> Mayor Muckle explained renaming the North Water Treatment Plant to the Sid <br /> Copeland was suggested by the City staff and was very well received. He read <br /> Resolution No. 12, Series 2014, which would rename the North Water Treatment Plant <br /> to the Sid Copeland Water Treatment Plant. <br /> In honor of his service and dedication to the City of Louisville, and for his significant <br /> achievements in the water industry, the City Council found the proposed renaming <br /> desirable in recognition of a 26 year employee and leader within the Colorado region's <br /> water industry. The current informal name of "North Water Treatment Plant", located at <br /> 1955 North Washington Avenue, will be formally recognized as the "Sid Copeland <br /> Water Treatment Plant". Staff was directed to proceed with working within existing 2014 <br /> approved budgets to purchase and install a plaque and updated signage. <br /> Public Works Director Kowar explained unfortunately Sid was not able to attend the <br /> meeting this evening, but his brother, Ron Copeland and stepson Benjamin and his <br /> long-time colleague and friend Gail Lucas were present. <br /> MOTION: Mayor Pro Tern Dalton moved to approve Resolution No. 12, Series 2014, <br /> seconded by Council member Stolzmann. All were in favor. <br /> PRESENTATION — ADAM FELS, LOUISVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL <br /> Louisville Middle School Principal Adam Fels provided a short PowerPoint presentation, <br /> which recapped the year a Louisville Middle School (LMS). He congratulated and <br /> thanked Chief Goodman for his service to all the Louisville schools. He stated Chief <br /> Goodman's programs, such as School Resource Officer and Safe School Procedures, <br /> are unprecedented in the Boulder Valley School District. <br /> Programs and Events: LMS to serve the community by feeding 39 needy families <br /> during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays through their donations to the food <br /> bank. He thanked the Public Works, Planning and Police Departments for the new <br />
