<br />LOUISVILLE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APRIL 9, 1991 <br /> <br />Item SD :storageTek Wellness Center - Amendment to a Final <br />Development Plan Continued from 3/12/91 <br /> <br />Applicant: storageTek Technology Corporation, represented <br />by Mr. Bill Batchelor. <br /> <br />Location: 2270 So. 88th Street <br /> <br />Zoning: Industrial <br /> <br />Area: Proposed expansion to 46,700 square feet <br />with additional expansion area up to 52,000 s.f. <br /> <br />Request: <br /> <br />The applicant is requesting authorization to amend a final devel- <br />opment plan to allow for the expansion of an existing recreation <br />structure. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />The StorageTek Final Development Plan approved in 1979, as well <br />as subsequent amendments, authorized a 20,000 square foot recrea- <br />tion facility. Constructed in 1980, the existing 6,000 s.f. <br />facility provides employees with weight, fitness and aerobic <br />training. <br /> <br />That role of the existing building is to be expanded in the <br />proposed facility with over 31,000 s.f. being designated for <br />fitness and recreation. The facility will also designate approx- <br />imately 7,800 s.f. for the provision of on site employee child <br />care. Medical facilities and programs will also be relocated to <br />the facility. An additional 6,000 s.f. of expansion area is <br />planned for both the medical and child care facility to allow for <br />future growth. <br /> <br />1 <br />
