City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 17, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 7 <br />preschool program and the conversion of the computer lab into a classroom. However, <br />no plans are in place to address the increased enrollment growth after next school year. <br />On May 22nd Louisville residents met with BVSD School Board representatives Reed <br />and Mier, LES Principal Jennifer Rocke and the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary <br />Education. At the meeting concern was expressed the projected enrollment of 627 for <br />LES was too high. <br />On May 27th a group of concerned citizens requested immediate attention to the issue <br />at the BVSD Board of Education. The BVSD expressed the need to address the issue <br />however the staff must wait for a timeline from Superintendent Messinger. <br />The presentation included a map of Louisville, which illustrated new developments <br />currently being built or slated to be built within the LES boundaries. It also included a <br />Chart, which reflected the 5 -year projections for LES. Ms. Bradley asked Council to <br />take the information into account when approving new developments in the future. <br />Patricia Thompson, 1381 Golden Eagle Way, Louisville, CO echoed the comments <br />made by Alex Bradley. She stressed the residents are trying to be proactive and support <br />the school community. She stated her understanding is that this is a Boulder Valley <br />School District issue, but wanted to make sure communication lines remain open to with <br />the community ensure there is time for residents to advocate for their children with the <br />least amount of disruption should changes occur. <br />Sally Blair, 401 County Road, Louisville, CO voiced her support for Alex Bradley, who <br />has worked hard to put this information together. She encouraged Council to stay <br />informed regarding Louisville Elementary School and work with the BVSD for solutions. <br />She stressed there are a lot of young families in Louisville and education at LES is very <br />important to those families. <br />COUNCI L COMMENTS <br />Council member Lipton voiced his appreciation to Alex Bradley and all the parents for <br />their work and addressing this problem. He noted the City Council does not control <br />what BVSD does, but has influence and can reach out to BVSD for information in their <br />process.
