Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 2, 2014 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Economic Development Director Aaron DeJong gave a recap of the International Council of <br />Shopping Centers (ICSC) Conference. DeJong attended with Mayor Muckle and City Manager <br />Malcolm Fleming. <br />The following businesses’ booths were visited: <br />Chipotle <br />Qdoba <br />King Soopers <br />InterContinental Hotels Group <br />HomeDepot <br />Lowe’s <br />Walgreens <br />Tebo <br />All businesses reported doingwell. <br />DeJong said it would be good for him to stay an extra day next year rather than hurry back for <br />the City Council meeting. City Manager Fleming discussed strategy for talking with people and <br />said he believes it is a worthwhile trip and expense. <br />Theoverall tone this year at the conference was very upbeat. <br />CULTURAL ARTS AND SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR: <br />Cultural Arts and Special Events Coordinator Suzanne Janssen spoke of her new role at the <br />City. She gave her backgroundand said she has been brought in to carry out the Cultural Arts <br />Master Plan. Additionally Janssen will begin the Public Art Program, be a liaison for the Center <br />for the Arts and Cultural Council, Advocate for Local Art Organizations and explore partnerships <br />with the Business Community. She will begin a general conversation with Council about art in <br />the parks and entrances to the City. <br />Rick Brew introduced the DELO project and Janssen said this is an excellent time to introduce <br />artists to the project. <br />CBRE PRESENTATION <br />Frank Kelley, Senior Vice President of CBRE presented the Northwest Denver Mark Overview, <br />st <br />1Quarter 2014. In addition to reviewing the presentation in the packet the following comments <br />were made: <br />Mr. Kelley reported the area grew significantly between 1997 and 2002. <br />Google is growing inBoulder and making a significant impact on the area. <br />The average tenant in the NW Quarter is looking for 17000 – 22000 sq feet. <br />
