Business Retention & Development Committee
Meeting Minutes
June 2, 2014
Mr. Kelley’s opinion is that the Centennial Valley lacks multi-family housing.
Commissioner Lathrop asked if manufacturing jobs were coming to the area. Mr. Kelley said no
but he is seeing clean technology jobs increasing.
Commissioner Menaker asked if there is anything the City can do to make the Phillips 66
property moremarketable. Mr. Kelley said companies want more amenities than just a large
campus and that companies will expect significant concessions.
Mike Kranzdorf asked how CTC has succeeded considering the lack of amenities. Mr. Kelley
feels it is due to the clean, new feel of the buildings.
Mr. Kranzdorf asked what the game plan for the Phillips 66 property is. Mr. Kelley said ideally
there would be a master plan for the site as mixed use perhaps having the availability of 40 acre
parcels. It could be a great compliment to downtown.
RETENTION VISITS:
DeJong visited Relevant Labs. They love being downtown. They are looking at co-working
space for creative businesses.
COMMENTS:
Commissioner Shelley Angell reminded everyone that the Taste of Louisville is this Saturday.
This year the Chamber had to turn people away for booth space.
DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING:
ADJOURN – The meeting adjournedat 9:28am
