Call to Order —Chair Mike Frontzcak called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm.
II. Roll call —Board members present: Shelly Alm, Mike Frontzcak, Neal Griggsmiller,
Erik Gustafson, Gina Lopez, Mark Newland, Ellen Toon. Board member absent:
Beverlee White. Staff member present: Dean Johnson. City Council member present:
Susan Loo.
III. The agenda was approved by all members.
IV. The minutes from the April 3, 2014 meeting were approved.
V. Public Comment on Items not on the Agenda —No public present. Gina Lopez
announced she is resigning from HFAB effective immediately —she has accepted a
position in California and will be moving this month. The Board expressed
appreciation for her contributions, and wishes her success in her new endeavors. Gina
presented ideas for a calendar fundraiser, in which Louisville residents could submit
photos of Louisville trees on public or private property. The Board would then select
one photo for each calendar month; perhaps display the selected photos at the Library;
and produce a calendar, sales of which would benefit the Arboretum. Discussion of
timeline for publicizing the project, collecting the photos, and printing the calendars;
also how HFAB and Friends of the Arboretum would interact to organize and fund the
project. Mike will contact the Friends of the Arboretum board to arrange a meeting to
discuss the potential fundraiser. Susan commented that sometimes the best way to raise
funds is simply to ask for donations, perhaps via a flyer enclosed in a City mailing.
Dean asked HFAB to consider agenda items and meeting dates for the remainder of
2014— bylaws (including duties of the Board) are available for review on the City
website. It was decided that the next regular HFAB meeting will take place on
Thursday, August 7, 2014. Please note there will be no HFAB meeting in June or July.
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT • 749 MAIN STREET • LOUISVILLE, CO 80027
(303) 335.4735 • FAX (303) 335.4738
www.lou isv i Ileco.gov
PARKS RECREATION SENIOR SERVICES 2OPEN SPACE FORESTRY TRAILS GOLF
