All Commissioners were
either familiar with the property or had made a site visit.

Staff Report and Facts and Issues:

Staff gave a brief overview of the proposal.

Commission Questions:

None.

Applicant’s Presentation:

Jack Rudd, architect for Segal Fine Arts spoke for the Applicant and stated that there were no
problems with any of Staff’s Conditions.

Public Comment:

None.

Commission Questions:

Jeff Lipton appreciates the simplicity, but he doesn’t like the “racing stripes” effect of the CMU
banding. He would like to see that color scheme simplified by reducing the number of bands or
the color scheme.

Sarah Klahn likes the building and likes the colors.

Russ Van Nostrand likes the building, and agrees with Sarah Klahn’s comments. He is concerned
with the lighting fixtures because they usually require fully cut off fixtures. The Applicant does
not have a problem with changing the fixtures to fully cut off.

Bill Boulet has a problem with the east elevation. He feels it is too bland. He also feels there
should be more evergreen trees added to the street elevation.

Betty Solek agrees with Mr. Lipton’s concern with the stripes. She agrees with Staff’s comments

Page 12
