asked the ;Mayors to sit down and see if there
wasn't a pattern that could be established for us
to develop a formal agreement. From time to time
the whole Council can not get together with the
other Councils. Just to get it started we often
had the Mayors do that. A lot of times the City
Administrator would do that. We have tried
numerous times to put together a relationship that
was positive for both communities. I think we are
making progress all the time.
Howard: If there are public records on this issue saying
that the Council authorized the Mayor to go and
talk or whatever. To clear this up maybe a copy
shoul d be rent to Councilman Davidson, so we can
stop this stuff before it starts and get this
whole thing cleared up.
Carnival: If the article in the paper was to prove that
things were done behind our backs and not in
public, I totally disagree with that, there are
lots of things that the Mayor takes guidance from
his Council and he doesn't always have to have a
public vote' to allow him to do some things that
are typical procedure that the Mayor just does.
The Mayor has always acted in good faith of the
community and what is right for the community and
has always had the support of the last council to
do the things that he felt was appropriate. Once
again, there are the little things that we can't
have coming out and indicating that this Council
is not trying to work together. We are here as a
joint team and trying to put together a joint
effort to make the City of Louisville the best
possible place to live in for all of us.
Howard: Agreed that. we need to work together. My concern
is if the Mayor has in the past gone out with the
feeling that the Council has giving permission to
talk to versus city entities, I think it would be
appropriates at this point for me to say that I
personally before any such thing happens in the
future, I would like to know about it. If we all
know what i.s going on maybe these things will not
come up in the future.
Szymanski: It seems to me like when the Mayor went to talk to
someone it was with the approval of the Council. I
don't see that he did anything without our
knowledge. I think we have to have some trust.
We are here' to fight for our city as a team. Not
to go against one another. Let's cut out all this
stuff, let's do things together.
Carnival: Councilwoman Hornbostel has put together a
14
