Cityof Louisville COLORADO • SINCE 1878 Memorandum To: Historical Commission From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator Date: April 28, 2015 Re: Museum Coordinator's Report Dick DelPizzo has brought in the last remaining small model houses that he has made and placed them on the replica, which makes the replica complete! Megan Huelman, who has started at the Museum as a Museum Tech, and I plan to give some "Museum Chats" on different topics next to the replica from 6 PM to 8 PM during the First Friday Art Walks this summer. There will be a different topic for each Art Walk evening, and the chats will be repeated throughout the two hours. The Winter 2015 issue of the Louisville Historian with its lead article by Jennifer Strand about Main Street is to be mailed to members in early May. Jennifer will lead a Brown Bag presentation and discussion on the topic of "Main Street Memories" on Thursday, June 4th from noon to 1 PM in the Library meeting room. I'll also give a program on "The Homes of Our Families: Connecting With the Homes of Ancestors and Leaving a Record for Future Generations" on Wednesday, May 20 at 7 PM in the Library meeting room. This will take place during Preservation Month. Anne Robinson's "Main Street Stories" downtown walking tour will take place on Saturday, May 30 & August 29. It leaves from the front steps of the Louisville Public Library, 951 Spruce Street at 9:30 AM. Diane Marino will this year give tours of "Louisville's Miners Field Neighborhood" on Saturday, June 27 & Sept. 12. The tour leaves from the north side of Miners Field at 9:30 AM. For all tours, the suggested donation is $5 per person. I've accepted an invitation to speak to IBM employees about Louisville history in July. As a reminder, the City of Louisville will hold a volunteer appreciation event for City volunteers, which includes both Historical Commission members and Museum volunteers. This is intended to take the place of individual City department or division volunteer events. It's being planned for the morning of Saturday, May 16th. I hope that the Commission members can all attend!
