<br />Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />December 5, 2007 <br />Page 4 of 12 <br /> <br />historic buildings will affect the City's ranking in livability polls. He stated that downtown <br />is the reason many people move here. <br /> <br />Angela Hedley, 1117 Spruce Street, stated that the City is losing its character with the <br />new development in downtown. Many of the existing buildings have vacant space, so <br />why do we need additional retail space now? The City is losing its hometown feeling and <br />it is not worth it. <br /> <br />Mary Kay Knorr, 1209 Lafarge Avenue, stated she lives in Old Town in a house moved <br />from a local mine and is a museum volunteer. She said that one of the joys 0 isville <br />is the old buildings; they are what make the town wonderful. <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia Caranci, 1101 Main Street, stated that the Historical Commission work get <br />13 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places in the 1980s~I' nd more buildings <br />in town should be landmarked. She added that 836 and 844 Main Str t have as much <br />historical value as those on the National Register. <br /> <br />Bonnie McCormick, 1301 Lincoln Avenue, stated that we <br />is gone and encouraged the applicant to listen to the com <br /> <br /> <br />not replace history once it <br />of the community. <br /> <br />Susan Bright, 820 Main Street, stated that she i -owner of the Marketplace Bakery <br />and wanted those in attendance to know that he ce with the applicant has been <br />very positive and the applicants have shown that th e about the buildings and the <br />tenants. She thinks their intentions are good and th ey want to see downtown <br />succeed. She added that she also doesn't want downtown to become a "little Pearl <br />Street." She also restated her desire for <br />a stronger preservation ordinance. <br />
