Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />July 1,2015 <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />communicated to and shared with Commission members, Foundation <br />directors, and volunteers. There were no public comments on the policy. <br />ii. Update on process for obtaining a Business Plan: The Museum is waiting <br />to hear back regarding a request for $10,000 to pay for a Business Plan. The <br />intention is for the City to put out a Request for Proposals. <br />iii. Establishment by the Chairperson of a subcommittee to review Master <br />Plan documents and draft specific goals and objectives for the Museum: <br />The Acting Chair asked who would be interested in servicing on a <br />subcommittee to meet in the fall. Commission members Paula Elrod, Julie <br />VanLaanen, and Anne Robinson volunteered for this subcommittee. Bridget <br />stated that she would check with Gladys Levis -Pilz to see if she would also <br />join the subcommittee. <br />VII. Planning for City Council Study Session (Sept. 8, 2015, 7 PM, Library) <br />A. A Study Session planning subcommittee was formed. Paula Elrod and Julie <br />VanLaanen expressed interest in being part of the subcommittee. Chair Dan <br />Mellish, who has made the study session presentation in other years, would also <br />be part of the subcommittee. <br />B. Commission members expressed that the presentation should emphasize the <br />cooperation and working arrangement between the Foundation and the Historical <br />Commission. Anne strongly encouraged all Commission members to attend the <br />Study Session. City Council liaison Chris Leh offered suggestions on how Dan might <br />want to approach the Study Session. <br />VIII. Chairperson's Report: <br />No report given since Commission Chair Dan Mellish was not in attendance. <br />IX. Update on Needs Assessment Process and Efforts to Plan for Museum <br />Improvements & the Construction of a Visitor Center Building at the Museum <br />A. Update on Museum Needs Assessment presentations to other boards and <br />commissions: It was reported that Bridget and Paula talked to the Library Board about <br />the Needs Assessment, and the Library Board was very supportive of the plans and <br />willing to help. Gladys has talked to the Revitalization Commission. Presentations to <br />the Historic Preservation Commission and Cultural Council have so far been <br />postponed, but are being planned to take place soon. Bridget, Gladys, and Paula <br />would like to then make similar presentations to additional City boards and to the <br />Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Business Association. <br />B. Update on process for having Historic Structure Assessments completed for the <br />Tomeo House and Jacoe Store buildings: Bridget and Beth Barrett are working with <br />4 <br />
