Lewis:

Hunt:

I would like to point out to the
Authority that the form itself, in
question 7 has less than an inch of
space to provide an explanation.
There is, on the front of the form,
a requirement that additional
documents can be attached. In my
experience as an attorney, having
seen many forms completed, this
seems to be very typical behavior,
that the space that's available is
filled in and there isn't much more
beyond that provided, particularly,
with a question that's sensitive or
embarrassing. I think that it's
important to recognize that the
answer to the question was in the
affirmative and there was an
attempted explanation. It isn't an
issue, where he denied it.

I guess I couldn't give a better
answer than that other than this is
still, 25 years later, a very
sensitive issue in my life, a very
sensitive issue for my family. It
was very difficult for me to come
here tonight and to face all of you
and discuss this in open forum. I
feel that some of you are skirting
the issue a little bit. Being
concerned about this, when the FBI
reports first came back, I made
arrangements and spoke with the City
Attorney. I appreciated her candor
and honesty. She was concerned
about my possible evasiveness, which
is what you're implying, too. I
can't remember my responses to her
that morning, other than I had no
intentions of being evasive, if
evasive means that I still intended
to protect, as much as possible, the
privacy' for my family. I did say
"yes" on the answer. I did tell you
that I was arrested. Obviously,
you're ,going to have the full
report. My explanation would not
have changed any of that, made it
better or worse.

11
