fee required for the meter resulting in a savings of
approximately $44,900.
Williamson stated that specifically the Fire Station
is requesting that. they be granted a 2" tap, but
only pay for 3/4" tap, the normal domestic tap.
Williamson feels that the City's Code does not give
the Council, in hi.s opinion, the discretion to do
that. "There is r.~o provision for allowing discounts
or paying for different size taps than are being
received." The need for a 2" tap is based upon the
fact that the Fire District is unable to provide
their emergency fire protection water from the
hydrants. This line and tap would be inside the
building. Williamson suggests that staff explore
with the Fire District the possibility of an
intergovernmental agreement between the District and
the City in order to provide services for the City
as an offset against the tap fee.
Chuck Schmidt, Chief of the Fire Protection
District, stated ghat the 2" water meter is to be
used only for fil]Ling pumpers and tankers and would
certainly explore any ideas including an
intergovernmental agreement with the City.
Staff and Council explored several ways to approach
this issue.
Hundley suggested that up-fronting any costs
incurred as a result of the Cherryvale Fire
Protection exclusion process could be a
consideration than the Louisville Fire Protection
District might make to the City of Louisville.
Hundley stated that although there could be no
waiving of sewer 'tap fees, another consideration is
assessing only "out of pocket" expenses on
inspection fees.
Mayor Fauson sugg~°sted that this matter be handled
administratively .and allow the City Administrator to
look at all the considerations and work with the
Fire District to find a mutually acceptable
agreement.
Hundley stated that he would work with Mr. Schmidt
as quickly as possible to work out an
intergovernmental agreement in consideration of
offsetting water tap fees.
ORDINANCE #948 - COAL CREEK RANCH ANNEXATION -
PUBLIC HEARING Mayor Fauson opened the public hearing. Hundley
stated that he and the City Attorney met with
representatives of Coal Creek Associates wherein
2
