meetings held and the reference to the business
people as being ordinary or somethings strange
about them is mis-construed and asked that they be
as fair with peo~>le that they are not in the
category of as you would ask them to be of you.
"I understand th<~t $29, 360 is a loan, not an
assessment. What we did tonight was approve the
agreement which formalizes the fact, by contract,
that it will be paid back out of the first moneys
received. Whether you have confidence in that or
not is certainly an. opinion which you are entitled
to, but what we are trying to do is legally make
sure that that is taken care of . " "Arvada is
paying $44,040, we are paying $29,360." "The
residential growth caused by W-470 is an
assumption a lot people make. I think it is an
incorrect one." Mohr stated that past Governor
Lamm fought for several years the building of C-
470 because it would cause growth in southern
Denver-Metro area. However, growth occurred
anyway. An ill-planned transportation system led
to elected officials making that issue a priority
for the citizens vvho elected them. "W-470 not
only offers that i~ransportation system which is
much more responsible and responsive to what is
happening here regardless of highway growth, but
it also encourages us to participate in the
economic benefits of an airport which is not just
a major airport, brut which is the global airport
in the world as far as projections are concerned."
Sackett stated that: the reason he supports W-470
and the money that the City is spending is that it
is an investment rather than an expenditure.
Sackett stated that this will be an investment
that will have a nest effect on Louisville in that
we don't have to pay as many taxes. "Most of the
dollars that we spend for sales tax are benefiting
other cities, not our city. If we can find a way
to recoup those, we: will be able to provide many
more amenities than we already provide." "E-470
is a definite success, and I expect W-470 will be
the same." "I believe the net effect will be a
tremendous positive benefit to the City in the
form of revenues and we will be able to hopefully
actualize our dream of a rec center and a better
library and better- amenities. I feel like the
investment is well worth it."
ADJOURNMENT With no further business, Mayor Fauson moved and
Anderson seconded to adjourn the meeting. The
meeting was unanimously adjourned at 10:05 p.m.
13
