to the W-470 special project's budget, while
Louisville paid $29,000.
Pat Hornbostel, 655 W. Hawthorne, stated that at a
previous W-470 hearing he noted that W-470 is
going to bring increased growth in residential
units to Louisville. "I'd like to suggest to you
that there are lot of costs with this project that
are not just the direct costs such as taxation
from it, but there are a lot of costs here that
have not been looked at so far." Mr. Hornbostel
stated that Council is responsible for not
addressing the needs of the people and should look
very closely at the loan just approved to W-470.
Cecilia Wilson, who resides on Cliffrose Lane,
stated that she received a letter that had quite a
few disturbing poir.~ts regarding the impacts of W-
470 on Louisvilleā "It seems that in the past
Council meetings, opposition to W-470 has
outweighed those treat are in favor and those that
are in favor have been people that are in business
or will make money from W-470..." "I personally
don't feel I'm being represented at this time. I
think Council has keen going ahead with what they
want to do regardless of what people say. I don't
think Council is really doing its job in
representing the pE~ople." "I would like to know
what is going to happen to this $29,000 if W-470
is turned down by the voters."
Margaret Kemper, 529 W.
Laurel Ct., stated that Council is responsible for
her and her family and the children in her
neighborhood. Ms. Kemper's main concern is the
Library and the funding issue is of great concern
to her. "Looking at the current Library situation,
we had a 52$ increase in usage in the last month
and. we need more books and we need more staff and
we need room. I would like to see you look into
budget spending as creatively as you are doing
with W-470 to see that the Library might be funded
better than it is now."
COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS Mohr addressed a couple of items raised by those
people speaking on the W-470 issue. "This group
is very sensitive to the needs, like the Library
versus highways." Mohr stated that Council's
primary responsibi]'~.ity is to see to it that the
City's major infrastructure is funded and taken
care of. W-470 like the airport is valuable in
terms of funding things like the Library and other
kinds of services that are needed and wanted.
Mohr stated that there have been several public
12
