the idea is to gives a vote of confidence to the
process to take a deeper look at it to see what
people feel about i.t and move from there."
Sackett stated that he came away from the meeting
feeling that there are stakeholders that care a
great deal about Louisville and could help in
planning Louisville, i.e., the school district and
Boulder County. Sackett agrees that there is
already a consensus and will continue to represent
his Ward and listen to them. The Forums won't be
a substitute for wYiat the Council does. Sackett
feel that it is a good idea to set up a forum
whereby other interested parties could work with
Council to plan Louisville and make recommenda-
tions and encourages participation.
Carlyle Rowland, President Chamber of Commerce,
supported the continuation of the Futures forums
stating that it is good to have differences on
which to build.
Mayor Fauson stated he was very supportive of the
concept, but has qualms about supporting the
forums monetarily. Although Louisville should be
included in raising any necessary funding needed
to continue with the forums, $3,000 is "a little
too much - nearly one-third of the amount
projected to continue with the program. I would
like to see this continue and go on to the next
phase, but I have ghat concern about the money."
Szymanski stated he would be more than willing to
spend the $3,000 if he felt positive results would
come from it. His concern is that we won't get
any further along than we are right now.
Expending this money won't extend the 80-90$
consensus that is already established, Szymanski
stated.
Anderson stated that the Futures Forum served an
outstanding purpose but is concerned about the
aspect of the money as well. Even if it becomes a
discussion group of the people involved, it will
take us farther than we are now, Anderson stated.
Hundley stated that if at the next planning
meeting people do not want to proceed, then
obviously it doesn't make sense to do that.
Hundley needs to know what Council's feelings are
about the next phase and if a representation could
be made that the City would be willing to
contribute if other people are willing to
contribute even if the amount is not identified.
9
