said." "I think they made their mind up before we
got there. The Boulder City Council knows what we
were trying to do. I had the opportunity to speak
with several of them before this even went to the
Board. But its more or less what the Board
decides and thats it." "I think they understand
what were trying to do to preserve that open
space, but I think the gurus of open space just
said no and that was it."
Both Sackett and Carnival stated they would still
like to try to makE~ some contact with Boulder City
Council regarding •this issue.
Mayor Fauson stated that he would refuse to do
that as Mayor of this City. Boulder knows the
facts and Louisvil:e was simply turned down.
Other alternatives will be pursued.
The Open Space Board felt it was incompatible with
open space use even though the tank would be
concealed, Hundley stated. Pursuing the
request for placement in Boulder's open space was
a good idea. Louisville can always revert back to
an elevated tower, although Szymanski said he's
"never seen a pretty one, yet." Unfortunately,
the request didn't work out. However, if there
are other possible sights, Szymanski would like to
see staff explore •them.
Mohr agreed with Szymanski stating that the
economics is very important. Mohr stated that the
good faith effort, left Louisville without the
ability to speak "Council to Council" about the
mutual benefits involved in this request. "I
7
