think the people o:E both Louisville and Boulder
should be aware that that effort was thwarted by
the Open Space Council." "I think we had the
opportunity to bothh arrive at the priority,
economic cost effectiveness, and perhaps, the
ecological effectiveness had we been able to sit
down in a reasonable manner between people of
mutual trust and respect." "Hopefully we can
still find a site •that will facilitate an at-grade
storage tank..." Mohr stated that Louisville will
have to do what is ultimately best for Louisville
including the construction of an elevated tank if
necessary.
UPDATE - BOULDER COUNTY
PROGRAM
Mayor Fauson stated that the time factor may come
into play also. Tlzis decision will have to be
made as expediently as possible.
Carnival remained :hopeful that Louisville and
Boulder could find common ground on which to
negotiate. Hundley stated that in an attempt to
restate Louisville's request, although the Open
Space Board denied this request, a letter was sent
to Boulder City Manager, Jim Piper, indicating
what the decision of the Open Space was. Hundley
expressed his disappointment to Piper asking that
if he had any other thoughts on the matter, to
please contact Hundley in hopes of working
together.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Hundley reported that the Chamber of Commerce
submitted a proposal to the Boulder County
Economic Development Task Force for economic
development funds in the amount of $27,000 to
market Louisville and achieve economic
development.
Hundley was appointed to serve on the Boulder
County Economic Development Task Force to oversee
the establishment of a County economic development
program and the distribution of approximately
$252,000 in County General Fund monies. Since
that time, the 12 member Task Force has been
meeting on a week]_y basis and is close to putting
together its final program. The Task Force will
also oversee the distribution of approximately
$200,000 to ongoing economic development programs
for the purpose of creating new jobs for Boulder
County.
Hundley is optimistic that a substantial amount,
if not all, of Louisville's request will be funded.
8
