1988. Mr. Stelter reiterated these requests and
stated that the "youth of this community continue
to have unmet needs."
A Christmas dance sponsored by the Teen Center
committee was a tremendous success and another one
is schedule for March 27th. Teens are included in
the planning of these events and volunteers help
decorate, provide refreshments and take care of
the clean up. Other civic organizations are
becoming involved in providing activities for
teens, however, a permanent facility is still
needed for these activities.
An office designedl to provide a teen health
program has been provided through Boulder County
at Clinica Campesi~na. Drug and alcohol related
problems, concerns. and assistance is being pro-
vided through thi s office.
Stelter asked for a time table from Council as to
when the City would be able to help in the efforts
of this organization.
Mayor Fauson statesd that the City is currently
working on finding answers to the recreational
needs of the City of Louisville including funding
of a new recreational facility.
Krisko stated that: in looking at plans for a
recreation center, the City has to keep in mind
how much "can we ;afford." Permanently assigning a
particular area of` the center to any particular
group would not be practical. However, areas
'would be designed to be used by teens for certain
activities during parts of the day. A recreation
center is still in the study stage and a key issue
is one of financing. A determination will have to
be made as to whether it is an appropriate time to
proceed with the center.
Mohr stated that •the efforts of this group are
appreciated and there is definitely a need for
teen activities. "I don't think there is any
easy simple answer to complicated complex
questions, but I eancourage you to continue with
that and I appreciate receiving the report."
Mayor Fauson thanked Mr. Stelter and assured him
that Council would keep him informed.
RESOLUTION #4 - ANNEXATION OF HOWARD
BERRY SITE ~ Rautenstraus read in its entirety Resolution #4,
"A Resolution of ithe City Council of the City of
Louisville finding substantial compliance of an
4
