A detail was given to
Council showing tree locations of these projects.
Sackett asked if Hutchinson was on this list. Phare
indicated that it was not part of the street chip
seal project as the street was in need of repaving;
chip seal would not be appropriate. Sackett stated
that it is important for the City to live within its
means, but there are serious street repairs that
need to be done in the near future and the City does
not have the money. Sackett commented, "I don't
want the public to get the impression that we have
lots of money to d.o lots of things." Phare explained to
him that Hutchinson Street needs to be replaced and
the project is more costly than the available
dollars could accomplish.
Szymanski asked Phare to explained the irrigation
system at the cemetery. Phare stated that this will
tie into the water line being installed and will
relieve the labor intensive efforts of moving
sprinkler hoses around the cemetery. Szymanski asked
if it is typical to have these underground systems
in cemeteries. Huridley stated that the Cemetery
Board recommended the installation and approved
borrowing the fund:a from the Cemetery Endowment
Fund. The money would be replaced over the next two
to three years fronn the Capital Improvement Funds.
Szymanski also expz-essed concern regarding installa-
tion in a cemetery that is old and in some instances
not well mapped.
