Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />July 6, 2016 <br />Page 5 <br />Bridget reported that on July 1st there were 201 people who attended the <br />July Art Walk at the Museum. Dick Del Pizzo wants to make a replica of the <br />Arts Center, Redman Hall and Grade School. The Rex Theatre curtain is <br />going to be cleaned by a conservator in August and times will be posted for <br />people to come and see her work, and the Museum will be open after the <br />Labor Day Parade for the first time. <br />X. Chairperson's Report: <br />A. Scheduling of a special Commission meeting, if needed: <br />There will be no need for an additional meeting in July for the Commission <br />to discuss the Historic Preservation Tax extension due to the City Council's <br />decision to postpone putting the Historic Preservation Tax extension on the <br />2016 ballot. However, the Commission voted to schedule a special <br />Commission meeting to do a final review and then adopt the Master Plan <br />on August 3 at 5:30 PM. <br />XI. Planning with the Foundation for Labor Day Parade entry (Labor Day is Monday, <br />Sept. 5th): <br />Betty informed the Commission she is donating the money for the construction of <br />the replica of the Jacoe Store float and would like to give the float to Robbie <br />Ferguson after the parade for his family. Robbie is working on constructing the <br />float. The Commission members were asked to volunteer to walk with during the <br />parade. <br />XII. Items of common interest with the Historic Preservation Commission: reports <br />from HPC liaison (Lynda Haley) and from HC liaisons to HPC (Paula Elrod and Julie <br />VanLaanen): <br />Debby reported to the Commission that Erik Hartronft and Randy Caranci were in <br />discussions with the HPC to request additional funds for the restoration of the <br />Grain Elevator. <br />XIII. Commission comments & discussion items for next meeting: <br />Gordon gave recognition to Larella Stout, whom he knows, for her involvement <br />with the oral history program in Louisville several years ago when she was the <br />Library Director. <br />XIV. Close meeting & adjourn: The LHC meeting adjourned at 9:28 pm.
