Louisville City Council Meeting
June 3, 2003

CITY MANAGER'S REPORT

City Manager Bill Simmons called for Staff Reports:

Deputy City Manager Julie Boyd updated Council on the Police Department Complex.
The City has received the completed design development drawings from the architectural
firm, which are currently being reviewed by Staff. After Staff comments, the
construction drawings will be completed. She noted some adjustments have been made
to the projects and the consulting firm, Golden Triangle Construction, will seek
additional pricing estimates. She reviewed the schedule: Updated cost estimates will be
received by mid-June; receipt of contractor bids during the month of July; award of bid
by the first meeting in August, and construction to begin August 14, 2003.

Public Works Director Tom Phare reported on the 42/96th Street Connection. The plans
from the consulting engineer should be received on Friday, June 6. Staff is working with
the railroad on an agreement for the rail crossing. The closing on the Mayhoffer property
is Thursday, June 5. The closing for the Med Tec property is Monday, June 9. Staff is in
active discussions and working on issues for the right-of-way dedications from the
existing residents and property owners along the corridor. He projected a bidding/award
process in August or September. There is a Water Re-Use public meeting scheduled for
Tuesday, June 24, in the library meeting room. The meeting will advise residents living
in the golf course and park areas of the water re-use plan for irrigation of the golf course
and City parks.

Land Management Cindy Lair reported on the Community Park. A Community Park
public forum is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4, 2003. She reviewed the process to hire
a consultant: An interview panel consisting of the Recreation/Senior Services Director;
Planning Director, Director of Land Management; the Park Projects Manager; and the
Assistant City Engineer would evaluate four proposals from reputable landscaping firms.
The deadline for letters of intent is Tuesday, June 10. The committee will then evaluate
proposals and select a firm.

Assistant City Manager for Governmental Affairs Heather Balser updated Council on the
CDOT meeting held on June 3. Louisville, Broomfield, Northwest Parkway, CDOT and
STK attended the meeting. CDOT proposed directional signs for the Northwest Parkway,
and the removal of Louisville signs along US 36: Louisville next two exits, east and
westbound preceding and following the 96th Street Interchange; as well as two Louisville
Business District signs. The signage at McCaslin has not been altered. CDOT requests
the City's comments and input. Staff will discuss this matter with the Louisville Chamber
of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association. Balser requested Council input.

Davidson asked Staff to write a letter opposing the removal of the Louisville signs.

City Manager Simmons reported on the tree damage as a result of the May snowstorm
and explained the City Hall received numerous requests to pick up broken tree limbs.
