approved tonight, Burger King will
have to go back to corporate to get
the sight re-evaluated for their
approval. It could be a 60 to 90
day delay or may never be approved
by Burger King. If the monument
sign is not approved tonight, it
could be a possible loss of sales
tax revenue of approximately
$3,000.00 per month to the City.
More importantly to me, the loss of
a major sale at a very timely period
of trying to complete the Center. I
would appreciate your approval with
approval of the monument sign as
proposed, so that we can finish up
the sight and open up a successful
center. Kmart will have a grand
opening April 2. We have one tenant
that has opened and a couple more
that will be opening within a week
or so. There will be five tenants
and Kmart open by the 2nd of April.
Joe Lucas of Burger King and Rick
Hattman, the Architect of the
project, are here to answer any
questions that Council may have.

Davidson called for Council comments or questions.

Howard:

When we had Hardee's in here, they
had a monument sign that I thought
was a little larger than 6 ft. by 6
ft.

Cudlip:

Correct.

Howard:

I don't understand what the problem
with a smaller sign is. Does this
currently fit our sign ordinance?

Franklin:

It does. The current sign code
would allow a larger and taller sign
than the one proposed for the Burger
King.

Lathrop:

When Hardee's came through, did they
have building signage on three
sides? On the west, east, and south
or just the west and the east? I
remember a discussion at the
Planning Commission meeting

5
