Baskett:

Right now, there is more interest in
a commuter rail facility where you
would use the existing Union Pacific
Freight rail lines that are lightly
used at present. Build about a
seven mile spur tract that would go
into Denver International. Then,
begin with diesel locomotives
hauling passenger cars behind them.
At some future date, be able to take
that trackage and upgrade it to
electric and put light rail vehicles
on it. There are really no plans to
do that.

Lathrop:

You're asking us to support RTD with
their proposal with DRCOG to extend
south. I think the additional cost
of that is $32 million. Is that
right?

Baskett:

Correct.

Lathrop:

Baskett:

Lathrop:

The additional savings in reducing
bus trips is $3.5 million per year?

Correct. When we sell the bonds and you
have to make the interest payments,
it takes a little bit longer.

Are all of the facilities that
you're building including the trains
and the Burkhart Transfer Station
handicap access?

Baskett:

Oh, yes.

Mayer:

Will these light rail trains be able
to accept bicycles?

Baskett:

They could. What the policy would
be on that, I'm not sure. We are
