Library Board of Trustees
Meeting Minutes—DRAFT
January 12, 2017
B. Superior Board of Trustees Update (S. Hammerly)
• Sandie explained that almost half of the Superior Town Board is new and they are
beginning by focusing on communication with the citizens.
o Maybe a meeting with citizens about the Library will be scheduled in the
future in an effort to facilitate communication.
• Sports Stable is open and has some meeting room space.
• Superior is working to design a new library book drop at the Superior Town Hall so
residents can drop off books at any hour of the day.
C. Library Foundation Report (R. Gurganus)
Renee attended the last foundation meeting. At that meeting, Library staff explained
the summer reading program to the Foundation members. Other items of note:
• The Foundation had not received all the end of year donations but did give
$3000 to begin 2017.
• New Book Bags at $15.00 each will be available at the circulation desk.
• Next Foundation meeting is Feb. 23 at 5pm.
• The Board will try to arrange a joint meeting with the Foundation at our March
meeting.
• Ashley noted that the Library Board and the Library Foundation are used in the
City as an example of how these two separate groups should function. The
Library Board of Trustees is a Council -appointed group and the Foundation is a
completely independent organization with no ties to the City.
D. User / Non -user Demographics
In 2017, Library staff will use new software, Analytics on Demand (AoD) to highlight
users and non-users of library services.
1) Generational Soup
This demographic comprises 4% of Louisville and 25% of Superior residents.
Also:
o In Louisville, none of the top profiles have children; in Superior there are at
least two: Kids and Cabernet, 10%; Babies and Bliss, 5%
o The profile Silver Sophisticates comprises 12% of Louisville residents
2) Meeting with Broomfield Library staff
Library staff recently met with a technology librarian from Broomfield who has
been working with AoD for the past three years. After this meeting, Library staff
formed an ad hoc committee to help interpret and develop a plan to reach
underserved groups. It was determined to start with Status -Seeking Singles, which
is a group showing significant untapped opportunity.
