The Highway 42 Corridor
At the time of the creation of our urban renewal agency, it was presumed
that absent government intervention, the highway facing properties from
South Boulder Rd to Pine St would redevelop and the interior of the area
would remain ars undeveloped and abandoned concrete plant.
Now, fourteen years later, the interior is developing nicely and the highway
facing properties — except Tebv's property adjacent to DELO — are
unchanged. Opportunity abounds here. The BRaD can help the City
understand why redevelopment along this corridor, once thought imminent,
is so long to take hold.
General Marketing and Promotion
More and more, Louisville — especially its downtown — resembles a tourist
town. In addition to ample and easy parking, we need to take a hard look at
creating and adequately funding, something that would resemble a "visitor's
bureau". As the East County develops, competition for discretionary
spending will become more intense.
Qualifications
had a 35+ year career in Business to Business Marketing
Communications. The Business Retention and Development Committee
will surely need to communicate, clearly, persuasively and often with
landowners, business operators, the development community, residents,
the press and other constituencies.
Over the past 13+ of volunteer service to Louisville, I've been fortunate to
make friends and establish relationships with many in the business
community. And, as a long-term member of the past BRaD Commiftee,
am up to speed on what's occurred in the past and planned for the future.
I hope to be able to continue to serve the City by working with the new
BRaD to continue to promote the recruitment of new business, the retention
of current business and developing opportunities for ail.
12
