Business Retention & Development Committee
Meeting Minutes
February 6, 2017
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Approved
APPROVAL OF DECEMBER 5, 2016 MINUTES
Approved
PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA:
None
OPEN GOVERNMENT PACKET:
DeJong asked everyone to review the Open Government pamphlet in the packet.
APPROVAL OF MEETING LOCATION AND POSTING REQUIREMENTS
The Board is requested by City Charter to list meeting posting locations:
City Hall
Rec Center
Library
Police Department
City Website
Those locations were approved by BRaD members as official posting locations.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Members are appointed by Mayor so no elections of officers.
WAYFINDING PROGRAM — LAUREN TRICE
Lauren Trice, Planner 11 presented an overview of Wayfinding — a plan to layout
wayfinding throughout the City.
Wayfinding was part of the Small Area Plan process. There was money in the budget
last year for wayfinding. Planning is hoping this money will be been rolled over to the
2017 budget.
Locations and types of signs, size of signs were discussed. Mockup of signs was
encouraged.
Commissioner Reichenberg has concerns about when Phase 11 will start. Several
commissioners thought the entry points should be priority. Signs don't have to be right
at entry; if you get a better visual a couple hundred yards in, that is a better option.
Currently pricing is for shielded down light on the signs.
Commissioner Menaker thinks entry signs and parking signs are important.
Council member Maloney reiterated Trice's question: what is the priority?
