4/17/84 Page -2-
region. R.T.D, is trying a lot of things
and would like to hear from the people of
the City of Louisville to see what they need
in the way of their services. They are
looking at a Park and Ride use area presently,
which is being considered by the Board;
also for some shelters for their ridership.
The emphasis for the newly elected R.T.D.
Board is to make ~ bus system to work
correctly before trying anything new. He
reiterated the input from the people of
Louisville would be welcomed. He intro-
c3.uced two members of his staff - Wulf Grote,
Transportation Engineer, Division of Planning
and Design and Violet Peabody of the Marketing
Division and stated they would answer any
question council might have.
Wulf Grote Mr. Grote stated he would speak about the
Park and Ride Proposal Park and Ride proposal for this area. They
U.S. 36 & McCaslin Blvd. are preparing a package of several park and
Interchange ride projects to be considered by their
Board of Directors. The funding source for
the projects has not been defined but it is
their intent to include the project for this
area, as well as others, into a Federal Grant
which would be funded 80% by the Federal
Government and 20% by R.T.D. The construction
of the projects will be contingent upon ap-
proval of the R.T.D. Board of Directors,
Urban Mass Transportaion Administration,
and. the community. If approved, including
the one for this area, they could k~e completed
as early as 1985. The proposal for this
area would serve Louisville, Superior, and
some of the areas in incorporated Boulder
County. Because the existing bus service
to the area that is presently a.lbng.
U.S'~. 36, they feel that the logical place
for the park and ride facility would be
in the vicinity of McCaslin Blvd./ U.S. 36
Interchange. At this time they have appoxi-
mat:ely 137 daily bus trips going back and
forth on U.S. 36 and it would be just a matter
of diverting it into a park and ride at the
interchange. An alternative analysis of
five sites was conducted. The result of the
analysis showed a favored site to be located
at the south side of U.S. 36 and west of
McC:aslin Blvd. This three acre parcel of
land is presently owned by the Colorado
