8/21/84
Page -3-
Mr. Buechner commended Director Asti-Caranci
for keeping things accurate and follow-up
on letters.
Councilman Leary Commented that none of the applications re-
ceived so far had done any research on this
City, he inquired of Mr. Buechner if he
felt some of the later applicants would do
this?
Mr. Buechner replied some of them were geared
the the community, but on a whole it was
difficult to tell at this time. He did
state that he had received telephone calls
through his network asking about the com-
munity and about the process. It was his
feeling that when we get to the interview
process those applicants would have done
a very thorough. search of the community,
staff, budget, etc.
LDC STREET CLOSURE REQUEST Councilmembers had a copy of a letter from
LDC of the various streets to be closed
over the Labor Day festivities.
~m Thompson, President of Mr. Thompson stated that they were trying
LDC to plan some events~:that will bring back
some of the themes that we may have enjoyed
in Labor Days gone by, to attract more
attention to the downtown area and the com-
munity at large. They had planned activities
from Saturday, September 1st through Monday
September 3rd, hoping to get a lot of family
activity; excitement downtown, by doing
things like the street dance. They were
requesting that some of the streets be closed
off for these various acitivites.
REQUEST GRANTED Councilman Fauson moved, Councilwoman Johnson
seconded that the LDC street closures be
granted. All in favor. Motion carried un-
animously.
DOUBLE HAPPY BEER/WINE Councilmembers had a copy of the application
LIQUOR LICENSE APPLICATION and all related information.
SET DATE FOR PUBLIC HEARING Attorney Rautenstraus advised that the appli-
cation was in order.
Mayor Meier moved, Councilman Cussen seconded
that the Double Happy Beer/Wine liquor license
application be accepted and that public hear-
ing be set for September 18, 1984.
