8/21/84
CATHY KASZA'S MEMO
RESTRICTED PARKING
MUNICIPAL LOT
Councilman Leary
mom Thompson
Page -4-
A11. in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
Councilmembers had a copy of the memo and
IN THE map depicting the parking spaces to be
restricted to 2 hour parking as recommended
by the Steering .Committee on the Downtown
Development Project.
Director Rupp stated that city employees
have been encouraged to park their vehicles
in areas away from the Municipal Parking
Lot: in outlying area lots.
RECOMMENDATION APPROVED
WITH AMENDMENTS
asked if restricted parking should be looked at
at the Pine St. Parking Lot as well? He
also commented that he was a member of the
Steering Committee and did not recollect
discussing only part of the Municipal Parking
Lot: being restricted.
Asked why just a portion of the Municipal
Parking Lot was being restricted? It
appeared to him that the problem was day
long parking in the lot. Mr. Leary also
Mr. Thompson stated that the particular
Saturday this was discussed, he was out of
town and did not have an answer either.
Mayor Meier and Councilman Fauson favored
the restricted parking as recommended in
Ms. Kasza's memo; Councilmen Leary and Cussen
favored all day restricted parking for both
the Municipal and South Pine St. parking
lots to 2 hrs. Councilman Cussen also sug-
gested that a survey be taken of the number
of cars occupying these lots all day, and
that a survey be made of the 3 different
restricted time zones on Main St., i.e.
15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 1-2 hours.
Councilman Leary moved, Mayor Meier seconded
that Council approve staff recommendation
by only restricting a portion of the Muni-
cipal Parking Lot; do the South Pine St.
Parking Lot as restricted and do some re-
search later to determine if that is enough
restricted parking spaces and change it at
that point and time. All parking restrictions to
be from 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. with the
exceptions of Sundays and Holidays.
Councilman Cussen Commented that he would vote for the motion
