She distributed copies of the July 11 report, which included
summaries of animal surveillance; human cases; and mosquito surveillance. The Boulder
County Health Department has confirmed 5 cases of West Nile Virus since May, and
recommends the public continue to take precautions to reduce risk of exposure, including
using DEET, wearing long sleeves and pants, avoiding activity from dust until dawn, and
draining standing water. As a result of the studies, the Health Department is not
advocating spraying for mosquitoes at this time.

Council member Keany asked if the Health Department is recommending doctors test
patients for West Nile Virus. Lair stated she was not aware of such recommendations.

Mayor Sisk stated the risk of West Nile Virus is still very high and public information
can be found on the City's Web site. He assured Louisville residents the West Nile
Virus is being monitored every day.

2
