Building Code Board of Appeals
Minutes
May 15, 2008

Board of Appeals to present a proposal to City Council on Louisville's direction
on this topic).

Mike Jones re-introduces Mark Persechetti from LRCAB who was present at the
meeting. Mike Jones continued by stating the goal for the evening's work session
meeting is to make changes on the draft. The final draft product will be presented
to City Council June 24th, as a resolution on where the Building Code Board of
Appeals stands with a Green Building program recommendation. He clarified that
there will be no meeting prior to June 24th for the Building Code Board of
Appeals. Three boards are trying to meet on the June 24th meeting, including
LRCAB.

Mike Jones directed everyone to look at the outline summary. He asked if there
was anything to be added or subtracted on the outline? Board members
continued to study the outline.

Mike Jones stated he did spend significant time on the phone with Chris Allison
Building Official from Longmont. Longmont's Built Green program is still in an
evolution stage. The city of Longmont has absorbed the costs of their Built Green
program since it started in September 2007. Mike, himself, has been invited to be
a part of the Boulder Green Board.

Bob Van Pelt asked Mike Jones what is the goal of the Boulder Green Board?

Mike answered the Boulder Green Board is primarily concerned that no cities
have adopted a commercial program for Green Built. Chris Allison says
Longmont has had to take over the enforcing of their own plan. This has been
because there are many problems with verifying the points process information.

Rex Olson liked the idea that the plans examiner could have a check list and help
eliminate some problems.

Matthew Berry agreed that a plans review points system would help.

Mike Jones said these issues are all part of the Longmont Green Built program's
learning curve.

Bob Van Pelt asked to add the 2009 Building Code on the outline.

David Rounds added that New Construction vs. remodel should also be included.

Mark Percichetti said Boulder's plan covers new construction & remodel equally.

Mike Jones agreed it is expected to include new residential, remodels, and
commercial in any plan to be implemented.
