Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 <br />a. Roll Call: Mark Persichetti, Marianne Martin, Seth Adams, Heather <br />Braithwaite, Dan Delahunty, Allison Johanson, Laura Levesque -Catalano, <br />City -staff Liaison Dave Szabados, City Council Liaison Susan Loo, City <br />Sustainability Coordinator Katie Baum, Boulder County Representative <br />Leah Yancey, Director of Public Works Kurt Kowar, Member of the <br />Louisville Preservation Commission, Teachers & Students from the <br />Louisville Elementary Bag Free Project. <br />b. Approval of Current Meeting's Agenda: Approved current agenda no <br />changes. <br />c. Approval of March 21st Meeting Minutes: Meeting minutes approved with <br />no changes. <br />d. LES 4th & 5th grade Students & Teachers Deliver Presentation of Bag <br />Fee Project: Students presented to city council a month ago and since <br />then, they have decided to go straight to the local grocers — Alfalfas, <br />Safeway and King Soopers. Alfalfas is ready to start instituting bag fees if <br />Safeway and King Soopers are involved. Students also plan outreach to <br />Home Depot, Walgreens and Lowes. Students have also suggested a fall <br />bag grass roots campaign. Alfalfas stated that 90% of people bring in their <br />own bags. King Soopers liked the idea, but do not want to force customers <br />to do it. King Soopers suggested the need to educate people on how to <br />change behaviors. King Soopers proposed putting stickers on peoples' <br />cars, like your oil change sticker in your vehicle window. King Soopers also <br />suggested an "app" approach to help consumers remember. Safeway did <br />not comment. Students are painting a mural on the back of Lucky Pie and a <br />picture of the art could be put on grocery bags to sell to raise money. King <br />Soopers offered in-kind support for videos, social media support and/or <br />voice over recordings in the store. The students sent out surveys and <br />received 132 responses that agreed 10 cents/bag is acceptable. Sue <br />suggested they look into school districts for funding.
