look at grant funding through the County - Zero Waste funding (any entity
can apply). That application is open in Sept -Oct. Parent — why can't we do
what Boulder did? Sue — Council can only take on so many hot topics
during one year and this year that is the Waste Hauler Contract. Many of
people in this community do not want to be like Boulder. Makes the point
that not all members of a community feel the same way about things.
Student — Will they be interested in future years? Sue — That is a
possibility. Also keep in mind the City supports voluntary and incentive
based opportunities. Teacher — this is not about being like Boulder — it's
being a better global citizen. Teacher — Next Steps: 1) Lucky Pie owner
donated wall by Tilt to design a sustainability mural. 2) Continue
partnership with restaurants. 3) For bag fee — hoping to get mural on bags
and in September hit the campaign hard. Marianne — LSAB members
would offer letter of support if a grant is applied for.
e. Public Comments not on the agenda —
i. Leah Yancey and County Updates:
1. Lawsuit filed by Boulder County and City of Boulder and San Luis
county — climate change impact costs. The lawsuit is against
Exon Mobile and Suncore Energy companies, requesting they
pay costs associated with climate change impacts so costs don't
fall disproportionally on residents. (Bouldercounty.org/climate-
accountability).
2. Resilient Analytics report — potential impact costs. Report was
sent our Board.
3. Grant application coming out early to mid-May for communities to
get EV charging stations.
4. New Clean Energy Credit Union opening party tomorrow —
Upslope Brewery.
5. Updating County -wide sustainability plan — aim to be completed
mid -summer.
ii. Mark P. — Green Business Celebration was a great event.
iii. Representative from the Preservation Society - 1st Friday Art Walk:
May 4th — Is someone willing from LSAB to come speak at the
museum on Main Street. Leah Yancey — the County can provide
energy smart brochures to hand out. No LSAB members are able to
attend.
f. Sue's Minutes:
i. May 1St: Boulder County asked the city to join with them in a friend
of the court brief. Council will discuss if they want to do that at next
meeting.
ii. May 8th: Look at how to partner with Xcel — "energy future
collaboration" — work with communities to see what excel can do to
advance their energy goals.
iii. "Renewable Connect" — Xcel program to invite residential and
commercial customers into their solar garden at Deer Trail — on
excel website. Mark says it may not be until June.
iv. Council is in the budget process
