August 27, 2018
City of Louisville Planning Department
ATTN: MS. LISA RITCHIE
749 Main Street
Louisville, CO 80027
Re: CHRIST THE SERVANT LUTHERAN CHURCH COLUMBARIUM
SPECIAL REVIEW USE
Dear Ms. Ritchie;
Please find attached our resubmittal for Special Review Use consideration regarding the
proposed columbarium at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church located at 506 Via Appia Way. We
have included plans, a traffic impact letter and correspondence with the adjacent neighborhood.
As a brief history, we have held two neighborhood meetings to discuss this project. We invited
everyone who lived within 500' of the church property line.
Our first proposal had the columbarium located on the south side of our church facing the
neighbors who lived along West Spruce Way. It did not have much in the way of screening and
would have been visible to all who passed by. It was met with strong opposition from the
neighbors and, after listening to their concerns, we fully understood why.
After much deliberation, we arrived at the alternative design and location we are presenting
today. It is located on the northeast side of our church and is intended to be fully enclosed. We
built a full-scale mock-up and held a second neighborhood meeting. While not met with
unanimous approval from the neighbors in attendance, the feedback was generally positive and
was enough to compel us to move forward with our submittal to the City.
We appreciate your consideration of this addition to our church. It is something that is important
to our congregation. We feel that we have achieved our goal as well as appeased a solid majority
of the neighbor's concerns. We look forward to your review.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Jeff Lehman
Christ the Servant Lutheran Church — Rememberance Garden Committee Member
leff@firstcontractingllc.com
303.210.9500
