The Assessor, in the section to note the state of repairs, marked "excellent" in 1948. In
another section, he wrote "extra good house." Information given about the kitchen was
that it "has all steel cabinets + sink / Inlaid Linoleum / Electric Range." The garage was
described as "huge," with its dimensions given as 21 by 21 feet, or 441 square feet. The
exterior was stated to be stucco.
In about 1949, Fred Nesbit conveyed ownership of 1024 Jefferson to Ruth Nesbit. As
they divorced at around that time, this transaction may have taken place in connection
with the divorce settlement. Ruth Nesbit continued to live in the house.
Fred Nesbit, Sr., after his divorce from Ruth Nesbit, remarried to Alice Sims and moved
to Denver. He died in 1967.
The following excerpt from a 1962 aerial photo of Louisville shows 1024 Jefferson as the
third house in from the left, with 1040 Jefferson on the corner and 1032 Jefferson
between them:
County property records indicate that in 1976, Ruth Nesbit granted a warranty deed for
the house to the First National Bank as trustee. Although the name of the trust is not
available in the County records, it was presumably a family trust. The Bank as trustee
for the trust held ownership until 1981. According to the Nesbit family, Ruth Nesbit died
in 1983.
The following is the ground layout of the house as shown on the County Assessor
completed in circa 1978. There is no photo attached to the card.
5
