General Architectural Description <br />This one-story dwelling is supported by a low concrete <br />foundation, and features white and grey horizontal aluminum <br />siding over wood frame construction. The roof is a <br />moderately -pitched front gable, with grey asphalt shingles <br />and boxed eaves. Two red brick chimneys, with corbelled <br />caps, are located on the ridge. Original windows are <br />entirely 2/2 double -hung sash with painted white wood <br />frames and surrounds, and with exterior metal storm <br />windows. Non -original windows include two lx1 horizontal <br />sliding windows on the west elevation, a lx1 horizontal <br />sliding bathroom window on the north elevation, and two 4- <br />light hoppers on the south elevation. A wood porch, <br />covered by a low-pitched hipped roof, extends the full <br />length of the house's west elevation (facade). The porch roof <br />is held up by four, painted grey and white, turned columns, <br />with decorative brackets. A painted white wood -paneled <br />door, with a metal storm door, opens onto the porch. A <br />shed -roofed addition, and an enclosed rear porch addition <br />to the east (rear) elevation, predate 1950. A solid wood <br />door, with a metal storm door, enters the enclosed rear <br />porch at the east end of the north elevation. <br />00\6(\ <br />a� <br />�e <br />29.Construction History (include description and dates of major additions, <br />alterations, or demolitions: <br />Boulder County Assessor records list 1902 as this house's <br />date of construction, and Sanborn insurance maps <br />corroborate that the residence was built sometime between <br />1900 and 1908. An 8' by 14' shed -roof, enclosed rear porch <br />addition, to the east end of the north elevation, predates the <br />1950s. <br />23. Landscape or setting special features: <br />The Plumley House is located in the middle <br />of the 600 block of LaFarge Avenue, on the east <br />side of the street.
