b. Plan of Action — Fire Element update: Jennifer suggested to outline what "worked" <br />with the ceremony and to generate a checklist to make planning the next ceremony <br />easier. Blake updated pictures of the fire element sculpture. Katie suggested having fire <br />dancers at the next ceremony and to start brainstorming re: next unveiling. <br />XIII. Arts Grants: Reviewed arts grant applications. <br />a. With expected increase in funding, discussed keeping max grant award as is. Katie <br />motioned to remove the language designating "grant requests may not exceed 33% of <br />the total project budget", Sean seconded, all approved. <br />b. City can offer free use of Steinbaugh Pavillion from mid -April to October for grant <br />recipients. This will be added to the application with a note that there are no bathrooms, <br />and anyone using it will have to rent porta-potties. <br />c. Angie thanked the group for her time as LCC member and hopes to continue to <br />volunteer <br />ii. Jennifer summarized the progress of the LCC/Louisville arts community over the last 6 <br />years during her time as LCC member. Big changes have been made over those years. <br />Initially, the LCC reported to the Rec Center, but now we have a City staff member and <br />arts coordinator. It's much easier to be focused on arts and communication has <br />improved between the LCC and the city. Six years ago, programming took place 40 <br />times per year with minimal marketing. When the City hired a facilitator, programming <br />was streamlined with fewer events and improved marketing. Initiatives such as the <br />Sculpture Park, Arts Grants, and Public Art Policy, and Cultural Arts Master Plan, whose <br />goals are linked directly to the City of Louisville's Master Plan, were created. Blake led <br />and established a "look and feel" for marketing LCC events. The LCC has worked on <br />improving creating a programming schedule in advance. We have added orientation for <br />new LCC members. We established minimum performance payments and advanced <br />
