Section 1: General Provisions <br />1.4 NONCONFORMING SIGNS Existing signs which <br />do not conform to the specific provisions of these regulations or to <br />an applicable approved PUD, variance, or waiver are designated as <br />nonconforming signs. Nonconforming signs must be brought into <br />compliance with these regulations or must be removed when any of the <br />following conditions exist: <br />1. Any change which requires a permit per Section 2.1, except <br />copy changes are permitted with an approved permit on a <br />nonconforming sign. <br />2. The owner wishes to relocate, alter the size, height or supporting <br />structure for the sign. <br />3. If any such sign or nonconforming portion thereof is destroyed <br />by any means to an extent of more than fifty (50) percent of its <br />replacement value at the time of the destruction, it shall not be <br />reconstructed except in conformity with the applicable provisions <br />of these regulations. <br />4. The location of the sign is moved or relocated. <br />1.5 ENFORCEMENT <br />1. The provisions herein shall be enforced by the City Manager. It <br />shall be unlawful to erect, construct, reconstruct, alter or change <br />any sign without first obtaining a sign permit from the City, and <br />no permit shall be issued unless plans of and for the proposed <br />erection, construction, reconstruction, alteration or use fully <br />conform to this Section. <br />2. It shall be unlawful to erect, construct, move or change the use of <br />any sign in the City or cause the same to be done contrary to or <br />in violation of the provisions of these regulations or amendments <br />thereto. <br />16 <br />City of Louisville Sign Code <br />
