PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

John Buri, 186 West Monarch Court, Louisville, Colorado, President of the Centennial Valley Tennis
Association based in Louisville, promoting tennis in east Boulder County and Louisville, stated that
there are currently 97 members and their families. They were asking Council to approve the budget
request from the Recreation Department for lights at the Recreation Center tennis courts. The City
has 11 tennis courts. This year they had 11 teams with 40 home matches and played 112 individual
matches so far in 1997. The league 7+matches start at 6:30 p.m. making it difficult to finish some
of their home matches before it gets dark. They canvassed 36 adjacent home owners in the
neighborhood and presented petitions to Council along with other information.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS
NOT ON THE AGENDA

Sisk attended a meeting with the School Board where the 16 names were submitted for the new high
school. The list was condensed to five names: Monarch High School, Coal Creek High School,
Regal High School, Windridge High School, and Louisville High School. September 25 the School
Board will meet to discuss the names and receive comments. He urged Council to present petitions
and evidence as to why it should be named Louisville High School. He wanted citizens to present
letters and contact the School Board representatives in favor of Louisville High School. A final
decision on the name will be made at the October 11 School Board meeting. The Senior Advisory
Committee will be sending a letter unanimously recommending the name Louisville High School.

Howard spoke with various community leaders. They remembered that in the old days there was an
animosity between Louisville and Lafayette. They did not want illusions made to chain beatings and
the like. His other concern was that by naming the school after the City of Louisville, they would be
slighting other communities who would be sending their children to this school. He did point out that
other communities have schools named after them, i.e. Broomfield and Boulder. He asked the
citizens to let their officials know.

Keany complimented City staff on how nice the medians throughout the City looked and the flower
beds were a very attractive addition. He wanted to see more of that when the Landscape Master Plan
was completed.

Davidson announced that tomorrow about 2 p.m. at the new Monarch School grand opening the City
will be presenting a check for $118,000 to the School District completing the City's $400,000 pledge
should they build a high school in Louisville.

REGULAR BUSINESS

2
