L
cityqf
Louisville
COLORADO -SINCE 1878
Memorandum
To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: November 10, 2020
Re: Museum Coordinator's Report
The City recently gave the Museum the opportunity to have a color insert about the Museum in
the hard -copy Winter Community Update that the City will mail to all households. The Winter
Community Update covers the months of December 2020 through February 2021. Since this
opportunity to let residents know about the Museum doesn't come along very often, we decided
to highlight the important overall role of the Historical Museum in the community. The final
version that we submitted follows this page in the packet. We were very happy to put this
together.
Boulder County is in "Level Orange: Safer at Home High Risk" as of November 6. For the in -
person tours by appointment at the Museum, this means that everyone in a tour group of six
people or fewer will need to be from the same household. (Facial coverings and social
distancing are also required.)
The Museum staff has continued to work on engaging with the public in many different ways. In
addition to the activities that I let you all know about in September, we will begin offering virtual
tours of the Museum starting in December. The staff can tailor them to the needs of school
classes or pods. The first virtual tours on the calendar are ones that we'll give to Louisville
Elementary School second graders in early December (replacing the field trips to the Museum
that LES second graders would normally go on).
The Museum recently mailed the Fall 2020 issue of the Louisville Historian and membership
renewal reminder postcards. Please let me know if you have any questions about them!
In late September, the Museum staff members each made time to attend the online national
conference of the American Assn. for State & Local History (AASLH). We had access to live and
prerecorded sessions relating to the work of small to mid -size history museums, including
several relating to issues of diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion that we participated in.
