There were no
disclosures.
Planner Ritchie stated this is a landmarking request for 541 Jefferson Avenue. The home
was constructed circa 1905 and meets the criteria for landmarking both for its social
significance by association with the Hayes Family and for retaining its physical integrity.
The owner is planning to restore the home to its original exterior and rehabilitate the
structure. The Historic Preservation Commission has approved an Alteration Certificate
for the restoration work.
Staff recommends approval of the landmarking and the $5,000 landmark incentive.
Andy Johnson, DAJ Design, representing the applicant, reviewed the history of the home,
the existing state of the home, and the plans to restore the home to its original footprint.
Public Comments — None
Councilmember Dickinson asked why a preservation grant was not requested. Johnson
stated that may come with a later alteration for a rear addition.
Councilmember Leh stated he appreciated the owner renovating the building to its original
footprint and condition.
Councilmember Leh moved to approve Resolution No. 98, Series 2020; seconded by
Councilmember Fahey.
Mayor Stolzmann stated she finds the property meets the criteria for social significance
and for architectural integrity.
